Yesterday, a present appeared under our Christmas tree with today’s date on it. We were very excited to open it and discover it was a lovely Christmas book about Paddington Bear.

Visiting Halton Castle

Today, Year 2 went to visit Halton Castle and Norton Priory Museum. We had a great morning exploring the castle ruins, and then a very informative afternoon learning all about castles and medieval times at the museum.

Maths with Mr Dickinson

On Wednesday, we had Mr Dickinson in for maths. We started to look at fractions using the bar model, and then looked at multiples of 2 and 5.

Children In Need

A big thank you to all the Year 2 children who came into school on Friday dressed in their onesies and pyjamas to raise money for Children In Need. We managed to raise £450 across the school.

Here we are enjoying a party on the playground.

A Visit From Guy Fawkes

Year 2 got a big surprise on Thursday when they were visiting by Guy Fawkes! They had prepared a range of questions that they would ask him if they met him to find out more about The Gunpowder Plot. They were very pleased to be able to ask him the questions face to face.

Maths Problem Solving

In our maths Inspire lesson yesterday, the children had to solve this problem.

They used what they have been learning about measurement over the last few weeks to solve the problem in pairs.

They also worked on this problem and some of the estimations were exactly right: that the man, who is the same size as a mug, is approximately 9cm.

Piers Torday Visit

We loved having Piers Torday in today, our new Patron of reading, to read a book to the class. We’re looking forward to working with him over the next year.
